Carcassonne Accommodation

High Quality Contemporary Apartments in medieval Carcassonne

Carcassonne market is held in Place Carnot every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Arrive early to get the best selection of local produce, don't forget that the markets usually last until lunch time.

Even on a non market day Place Carnot has a myriad of bars where you can sit and watch the world go by and if you fancy a pastry try our good friend Jean Luc's at the Briocherie Arpin.

The festival de la Cite is held every July and August. As well as many world famous groups there are opera and theatre perfomances held in the amphitheatre in the Cite. This is a small and intimate venue and if one of your favouruites is plaing not to be missed. Ticket usually go on sale in April see

Throughout July and August here are free concerts in the Cite and the main square at Place Carnot.

The firework display on Bastille Day, 14th July, is stunning. People come from all over France to see them and even time there holidays to be here. I would rate them along side Sydney harbour at new year and New York on the 4th of July. Book early for this as we are often booked a year ahead.

Carcassonne Cite is probably the main reason people visit Carcassonne. A world heritage site, you could spend all day walking round the walls, stopping at one of the many cafes for a refreshing drink or ice cream. More pictures of the cite can be found on our Carcassonne Cite slide show .

In December, the main square, Place Carnot undergoes a dramatic change... an ice rink is installed and many kiosks are built with stalls providing good ideas for christmas presents as well as food and wine. The square in front of the station also has a winter theme park with slides and carousels and rides for smaller children.
